If VR is not an option for the Resident Evil 4 remake, this first-person mod could be the next best experience

The prospect of experiencing a classic like Resident Evil 4 in VR has always intrigued me, even though I haven't taken the plunge into owning a VR headset. However, a modder named elsuperaguas has crafted a first-person project for the Resident Evil 4 Remake, promising an immersive transformation without the need for VR.

A video from YouTube channel Residence of Evil provides a glimpse of the mod in action. The modification shifts the camera perspective to the first person, retaining Leon's body model and animations. This results in a more deliberate first-person shooter (FPS) experience, akin to the gameplay style found in Resident Evil 7 and Village. Despite the potential increase in stress and difficulty due to reduced situational awareness, it adds an element of fun to the game.

Elsuperaguas' project relies on several associated mods. Interestingly, one of the modifications requires making Leon's head invisible to accommodate the new first-person camera. It's surprising how a few adjustments can transform Resident Evil 4 into a fully functional FPS. Capcom itself took a different approach a few years ago by introducing a third-person camera to Resident Evil Village, originally designed as a first-person experience.

If you're interested in trying elsuperaguas' first-person retrofit and its related mods, you can find them on the Resident Evil 4 (2023) Nexus.
